Doddington Village Sports & Carnival Set to Bring Community Together on Saturday 5th July
Doddington, Cambridgeshire — The much-anticipated Doddington Village Sports & Carnival returns on Saturday 5th July 2025, promising a fun-filled day for families and visitors of all ages.
The village is already sparkling with red, white, and blue bunting strung across the streets, creating a festive atmosphere in preparation for the big day.
The festivities kick off at 8:30am with a barbecue at The Three Tuns pub on New Street, inviting early visitors to enjoy delicious food and warm hospitality.
At 9:30am, the popular Fancy Dress Competition will take place at the rear of The Three Tuns, showcasing imaginative costumes and village spirit.
Between 9:30am and 12:30pm, roads will be closed to host the vibrant Carnival Parade, featuring colourful floats and community groups parading through the streets.
Following the parade, the excitement continues with the Children’s Sports Afternoon on the village sports field. Kids can take part in flat races, obstacle courses, egg-and-spoon races, and the thrilling mini-version of the Insane Terrain muddy obstacle challenge.
Visitors can browse and enjoy over 22 stalls offering crafts, food, and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
In addition, the winner of the village’s Scarecrows Competition will be announced on the day—so keep an eye out for your favourite scarecrow around Doddington!
The event is supported by the kind sponsorship of Aaron’s Mobile Mobility Maintenance, but the Carnival Committee would like to thank everyone in the shadows that have been involved, as their help is really appreciated.
Keith, Vice Chairman of the Carnival Committee, invites everyone to join the festivities: "We look forward to welcoming visitors from near and far to celebrate community spirit, fun, and friendly competition. It’s a fantastic day for all ages."
