Quiz Night Proves a Winning Formula for Doddington
05 October 2026 by Brett Rigby

On Saturday 3rd October, brains were sharpened, answer sheets were scrutinised, and friendships were briefly tested as 17 teams packed out The Three Tuns, Doddington for another hugely successful Doddington Village Sports & Carnival Committee Quiz Night.

With a sold-out pub, plenty of laughter, a few head-scratching moments, and just the occasional cry of "Are you sure that's right?", the evening proved to be a quiz-tastic success, raising an impressive £440 towards Doddington Carnival Day 2027, which takes place on Saturday 3rd July 2027.

Hosted by our very own Chairman, Adam Rush, who not only masterminded the questions but also kept proceedings moving as Quiz Master for the evening, teams battled through a range of challenging and entertaining rounds in pursuit of quiz glory.

The competition was certainly no multiple-choice affair. In a nail-biting finish, team "This Is Not A Drill, Please Evacuate" emerged victorious with an outstanding 92 points, edging out "The Five Karens" by a single point on 91.

As quiz margins go, that's enough to make anyone question their answers.

Throughout the evening there were plenty of memorable moments, with the "One Star Reviews" and "Trump Say or No Way" rounds proving particularly popular among contestants.

Reflecting on the evening, Quiz Master Adam Rush said:

"It was a close-fought and thoroughly enjoyable night, with some fantastic competition and a great atmosphere throughout. The 'One Star Reviews' and 'Trump Say or No Way' rounds were definite highlights, and while there may have been some mild controversy surrounding one particular quiz show question, I can only offer my apologies to those still debating it!

More importantly, the evening achieved exactly what it set out to do. Thanks to everyone who attended, bought raffle tickets, and supported the event, we raised £440 for the Doddington Village Sports & Carnival Committee. That's a brilliant result, and we're hugely grateful for everyone's support."

Of course, no quiz night would be complete without a raffle, and a huge thank you goes to everyone who donated and purchased tickets. The collection of food and drink prizes proved extremely popular and helped boost the evening's fundraising total even further.

The Committee would also like to extend its sincere thanks to Tina and Rob at The Three Tuns for their hospitality and for once again providing the perfect venue for a fantastic community evening.

Whether your team stormed to victory, narrowly missed out on the top spot, or simply excelled in the highly competitive category of "confidently wrong answers", we hope everybody enjoyed the night as much as we did.

After all, while there were plenty of points scored, the biggest winner of the evening was Doddington Carnival itself.

Looking Ahead

If you missed out this time, don't worry. Our next Quiz Night is planned for March, with the final date to be confirmed shortly.

Keep an eye on the Doddington Carnival website, Facebook page, and Doddington Diary updates for details.

Until then, thank you once again to everyone who attended, supported, donated, volunteered, guessed, debated, celebrated, and occasionally protested.

The answers may eventually be forgotten, but the support shown for Doddington Carnival certainly won't be.
